Love this breed I have a 7 month old silver lab and a 5 year old black lab they act identical in every way they are twins except for the color he is beautiful very intelligent so sweet and nice listens perfectly and extremely healthy I highly recommend silver labs and any other lab they are the bestest dog and breed the people on this site giving them 1 star and complaining about them have no idea what they are talking about and are so wrong I own one and am in love with him he is my child

I own a silver Labrador it's the best dog I ever had besides my black lab absolutely no health problems people who say that about them are just ridiculous extremely friendly smart cuddly wonderful with people kids and other pets not a mean bone in their body they listen better then a toddler/child I love my black lab and silver lab like I love my kids and grandchildren I owned a female German Shepherd she was very unhealthy bad hips when she was seven before she was one she had a skin disease and had barley any hair constantly scratching she died last fall she was only 8 and my male shepherd only made it to 7 because of his hips I highly recommend silver or any lab don't listen to ridiculous reviews again mine is perfect no skin or health problems best dog ever

As a young child we had a golden lab he was a great family pet his name was champ. He was an amazing dog all around very obedient very loving and friendly to everyone even strangers off the street. Never owned a silver lab but it caught my attention when I was surfing the web for a pet and when I came across this website I immediately fell in love but the silver lab brought back memories of when I was a child with my lab. I love this breed. I own a lab mix, he's 4 going on 5 yrs old. Sweet as can be. He needs a companion, so even a mixed lab would be great, somewhere around his age. Maybe a little younger.

I have owned a black lab. We had him 14 years a 7 months. This February we had to put him down due to he could no longer walk. I'm sure the breed are the friendliest of dogs. Very people orintated. Beware of any dilute color "Labrador" as these are mixed breeds and prone to terrible eye and skin problems in addition to having behavioral issues. I know because I have lived through it.

Silver is a disqualification for the breed according to the AKC parent club for the breed. The only recognized colors are black, yellow, and chocolate as described by the breed standard. Dilute colors are the result of mixed breedings, and these dogs are prone to incurable and progressive skin diseases.

Silver labs are truly a disgrace to the Labrador breed. Poor genetics, massive health problems and they aren't recognized by the AKC, UKC or especially the LCA.

I have owned and bred Silvers in the past. I am sorry to say that they have more health issues than other labs. Hips, skin allergies, etc. Also they are great with people but can be very aggressive with other dogs. I no longer breed them for these reasons.
