I have had Shelties all my life and we did breed them.We had 5 litters.We did it because we love this breed. They are awsome with kids. I would recommend this breed but you need to groom them so they dont get matted. I still have 3 senior shelties.They are 15 years ,13 years and 11 years old. We have 2 Tri and 2 Sable and White. These dogs are very loyal.

We recently loss our sheltie, Lady. We had 12 wonderful years but miss her. We are wanting a small female sheltie. She does not have to be AKC but we do want a sable. There Zaire only the two of us and I am retired & Jim will soon be. Our family is large but Lady attended family functions as did other family pets.

A sheltie is extremely smart, easy to train, good around children, not agressive, so easy to love, not a good rough house type since bones are not heavy set, great partners always there need daily brushing to keep hair in check, brush their teeth they do start to lose them arou0nd age ten, cut hair growth between feet pads to prevent sliping, hearing loss occurs as dog ages. I am sure everyone thinks their dog is the perfect dog and I'm sure perhaps that is true in many cases. However, having lived in the convent for many years, we have had 4 shelties and they have lived with many elderly nuns and men and women in senior residence and have been our therapy dogs to many over the years. But, we are now down to just a few of us and without our dog, we are heartbroken and totally lost withpout our companion whom we just had to let go of on September 17th. We want another pet, but not just any dog. We want another Sheltie, as they bring us so much love and affection. You can be sure this dog will be given the utmost love and care that any pet deserves. As Sisters of Charity, you should know that we named one of our dogs St. Elizabeth Bayley Seton and called her "Bayley", the founder of our comunity. If we get a male this time we already have a name for him, "Vinnie" or "Vincent" for our other patron saint and founder St. Vincent de Paul. God bless all God's creatures. And God bless the people who provide the many blessings who take care of the unfortunate ones who do not make it in this world and the people like yourselves who provide such happiness to families such as ours. My tri-color Shetland Sheepdog was named Shelby Tyler. Yup, Shelby the Sheltie! He was an amazing therapeutic companion of mine for 14 short years together. He passed away a week and a half ago. I miss that boy every day! I miss hearing his toenails on the floor going click clack, click clack!! He went everywhere with me on vacation, to the store or family on the holidays. Shelby has a brother named Milo Alfonso. He is a cherry back Shetland Sheepdog. He is 4 years old this June. He has a stubbornness about him. We remind him with our tone of voice who is boss! He is such a great do who loves to run around with the kids to snuggling on the couch to playing fetch with our cat.

I have had shelties my entire life. Got my first one when I was just a little girl. I have had 6 in total. They are very loyal, affectionate, sensitive and above all noisy. They are very vocal. Best dogs I have ever had. Great with children also. They do need some exercise too.
