In the beginning they are so playful and puppy like. Then they mature and are very protective of their family and are just really big lovers. We recently lost are baby to heart failure. He has left a very large hole in our lives. You could not have asked for a better companion and friend. Those eyes looking at you were would just so captivating you would do anything for him.

I purchased a pure bred English Mastiff several years ago. The one thing that is not advertised is the one thing you should know before purchasing this massive, absolutely adorable breed of dog. They slobber like there's no tomorrow. Braydan would literally cover my furniture, walls, and sometimes yes, even the ceiling in great globs of slobber and mucus. This is NOT a good breed for an 'indoor' pet. Beyond that, I could not say enough wonderful things about this breed of dog. If I could afford to give him his own house complete with heat and air conditioning, I'd get another. I love this breed of dog, but the slobbering is something you must seriously consider - it isn't just when they eat or drink - it's constant.

I got a mastiff puppy last January. Best money I have ever spent!!!! Stout has a great personality - Loving, loyal, friendly, playful and even a bit of a clown. He is on the small side, weighing only 130 lbs. currently. He's extremely intelligent! He has a large vocabulary of commands and is doing well on retrieving named toys. My only complaint is how MUCH fur this beast sheds daily. Lol! I've started vacuuming daily. I've also learned to grab a towel when I hear him drinking! Thankfully he doesn't drool. His big jowls just collect water when he drinks. I do think he enjoys holding it in until he's got his head on my lap. Honestly, Stout is the best dog who ever owned me. :)

I have two now and have had a total of three mastiffs. They are an amazing breed. They love kids and are loyal to their families above all else. Mine have been fine with cats and other animals. My biggest is 220 pounds and her best bud is a 15 pound Yorkie. The only downside I can think of is the drooling and the difficulty getting their big size in a car or truck - ugh! Great dogs!

We have had the pleasure of sharing our home with many different breeds. Gus, was our English Mastiff. It was with great sorrow and love that we sent Gus to the Rainbow bridge this past week. He gave us 9 years of pure love, loyalty, companionship, and protection. Gus was excellent with our 2 grandson's ages 1 and 3 years. He was also great with the 2 cats and a black lab all of which are our rescues. We have so much love and room in our hearts and home that we are very interested in bringing another English Mastiff into our hearts and home. I would recommend this breed for just about any home. They are just great big lovable cuddle bugs. You will have unconditional love forever. By the way our Gus just loved to eat Mangoes, which we made sure we had plenty.

Having an English mastiff was like having a human size baby at all times. Mine loves to cuddle, loved food, needed all the attention, hated thunder storms so you always had a budy, and they just love you so much that they always have to be right at your feet. I loved my Tinkerbell. She had gotten bumps on her body at a young age but the vets said that they were just little growths that will drain on their own. So for years she had these bumps. Finally one of them grew so big it took up a good chunk of her side. When we took her they did test for cancer and They said she had skin cancer non three of her bumps. So She had surgery to have the tumors removed and the one on her side ended up being 4 pounds. That left her with a huge hole on her side. They tried to staple it to gather but it was too much pressure. When they got the lab results back from the tumors they found out that she had cancer thru out her whole body. And the cancer was such a rare cancer that supposedly only three other dogs had. So at age 7 we had to put my big baby down. So all I wanted to say is if you get an English mastiff and find any rare kind of bump on it go to the vet immediately and have it checked out!! They are the best dog and I don’t want them to go thru that again. But all together I would definitely get another English mastiff and I would highly recommend it. They are the best babies. So protective and loving!

I had the pleasure of owning an english mastiff for the past 11 years. Sadly, my family lost our beautiful girl this past week. If you are considering getting this breed, I 100% recommend them. They are the most loving, gentle, lazy dogs in the entire world. There was never a day that I would come home and not hear the sound of a tail hitting the floor.

I am looking for an English mastiff puppy. I had my big girl chyna she was a brindle with a black mask and I loved her so much. We lost chyna July 27th, 2015. We don't really know what happened to her I woke up on a Monday morning and her ears were swollen. Naturally I called our vet and he said to bring her right in . By the time I got to the vet her eyes were swollen, the vet did xray and started her on an antibiotics and I left her there. The vet called me like 11 am and said he saw a very small improvement, then at 3pm he called to tell me she collapsed and by the time we got there she had a stroke. My big girl was laying on the floor and we knew we had to let her go . I've had many animals in my life and had to put them down but this was the hardest. She was my big girl she weighed 170 pds and such a mush. I love the breed and I'm ready for another big girl in my life. We have a large home with a decent fenced in backyard. I would give this breed and my chyna 5 stars.

The English Mastiff is truly one of the best breeds.. a gentle giant as you hear over and over. Our 'baby' Titian is now 19 months and weights in at 197 lbs, so he should top off around 220 perhaps. Be prepared for slobbering kisses, and continual wiping of droll...comes with the breed. Very playful and non hyper breed, which make the best family pet, due to their loyalty and loving nature. We will always have a Mastiff in our family, as it would not be complete without...

The best dog we ever have had the pleasure to own. Great dog, very loving. They are truly like us. These dogs are like huge and I specifie "Huge" teddy bears. Also highly recommend this site and it's breeders, especially the Kings in NewHolland. Thank you very much for the wonderful puppy. The only thing I'd say to anyone who is thinking about having a Mastiff is do your research and make sure you know how gigantic these dogs can grow up to be. I'd say talk to and go visit someone who has a full grown dog. 200+++ lb.s is a lot of dog. Over all we will never consider any other breed to have.

My previous dog, name Barron was a pure breed English Mastiff. He was hands down the best dog i have ever met and dogs are a huge part of my family. He was the nicest animal and had the most amazing personallity although he only lived a short 8 years he was a playfull giant till the day he passed. at almost 220lbs he acted as if he was human he evan sat on the couch like a person would, I hope in the near future i will have the time and resources to be able to get another one, although i doubt any dog will replace this one. but i dont think i would want any other breed.

We are currently raising our second English Mastiff. They are truly loving dogs. The fun and affection is well worth wiping a little slober! Be ready, they eat ALOT as puppies. Our current dog is from one of the breeders from greenfield. She has had zero health problems. At 7months she is 120lbs.

I currently have 2 mastiffs and LOVE them both. One is purebred 3 year old and the other is mix 1.5 year old. Easiest dog to potty train and will learn any command for a hotdog! Huge cuddlebugs, so they need lots of snuggle time. Short bursts of energy then lots of sleep. They enjoy soft bedding for their joints. Be prepared both of mine had issues with vomitting the first year because they would drink too much water so we would have to give small amounts at a time but this stops after a year goes by. I think both of mine believe they\'re humans not dogs. Love showers, kids, other animals, food, and they get their feelings hurt easily. If you like big dogs, I highly recommend this breed!
