I have a 10 year old Dorkie. She is my emotional support anytime I need her. She has a unique sense to seek out people who need support emotionally. I have her certification as a therapy pet because of her ability to seek out emotionally depressed. Her temperament is one of a kind that you don't find in a lot of breeds. Her intelligence and ability to learn comes with ease when I use praise reward. As her owner, I feel she sometimes can be over protective at times, but quickly calms when told to calm. My dorkie has stolen heart, can't imagine my life without her. As she ages I think introducing a dorkie puppy may give her a little spunk.

Small dog with a big attitude. They love to go on long walks, chase a ball and snuggle with you in your favorite chair. They are part of hound family so they do have a nose. Loyal to their owners and sometimes think they can run with the big dogs. Best pet for retires who are active, easy to travel with. Very easy to train, and smart. One downside is their yapping bark.

I have an 11 year old dorkie. She is my constant companion. She's been the easiest dog I've ever had to train. She listens, follows commands and generally only barks when it's necessary. She's the best dog I've ever had. She's a lap dog but does enjoy a walk. She loves to eat!

We had a precious, dorkie, named Sparky. He was a wonderful dog and loyal companion. He grew up with both of our children and wouldn’t harm a sole. He absolutely loved people (not so much other dogs) and loved to be held and snuggled. He was very healthy until the last few years of his life until he developed renal disease, arthritis and cataracts. He lived to be a little over 17 years old until he could no longer stand on his own and barely was eating. He loved his family until the very end. Sadly, on August 1st, 2022, we had to put him to sleep b/c we did not want him to suffer. We were heartbroken. He was the best dog ever and we will never forget the love that he gave us. We highly recommend this great breed. The Coleys

I had never personally owned a dog until I got my Dorkie and was terrified that I wouldn’t be able to be responsible enough to care for another life. I was so wrong. My dorkie has hands down the best demeanor. She will be 2 this year and she has been so easily trained, the best sleeper(cuddler) and even my significant other who was not a fan of small dogs or inside dogs has fallen head over heels for her. She does shed a little but only if it’s time for her to go get groomed. When it’s time to get another puppy I will definitely be on the hunt for another dorkie. ❤️

We adopted a little Dorkie in June 2017. She is a sweet tempered pup. She loves both of us equally, loves people (even small children), loves our other dog, loves to play and also likes to cuddle up and be quiet too. She is smart and curious. We love her Dachshund quirks and her soft Yorkie hair.

Lovable, sweet, terrific pet. Does not shed but does require regular grooming. Very affectionate and loyal. Generally good with childern but does not like loud noises or chaotic environment. Overall an excellent breed.

I have an 7 yr old Dorkie. He is very smart, learns well, interacts with people and other dogs very well, acts like a playmate for young kids that visit, easy to house break, very affectionate like a Dachshund and very prankster-ish like a Yorkie. He has one of the unique coats, for his breed, in a Dapple pattern(think German Shepard colors) , his tail curls slightly and his ears are floppy as a Dachshund, just slightly shorter-he can put them both up , both down or one up and one down. The only slight downside is that he is a shedder, as in we live in a State that is in constant heat, so he is constantly shedding. His coat is a slick, flat short hair (not smooth), he does not require haircuts, only de-shedding rituals of combing his undercoat about every other day, He also enjoys long walks, up to 3 miles per walk- Yes, still has energy at age 7 yrs. I got him as a 3 month old Puppy and the last 7+ years with him have flown by.

dorkies are the most playful puppies ever! Just make sure to have them in a fenced area.(just in case they run away; they\'re very small) also, train them when they are about 12 weeks or so.
