I don't know who does the ratings on here but they've never worked with a Dogo for any amount of time. They are the most incredible breed I've ever encountered and I'm currently the proud owner of a 2 year old male. This is NOT A BREED FOR A NOVICE OWNER or the faint of heart!!! You have to know how to be in charge AT ALL TIMES. Not a dog you let sleep in your bed because that then becomes their bed and they will take over if you let them get away with it. Dogo's can be very stubborn but once you establish the hierarchy in the house they are fantastic. They are highly trainable and eager to please their owner. But, the regular obedience training isn't going to cut it with this breed. Find a trainer that has experience with working dogs. They have a working dog mentality that when harnessed is amazing. The flip side of this characteristic though is that they are a little codependent because they bond so closely with their family. They don't rehome very well. They can be a lot of work. If you have any doubts about your abilitiy to handle a 120 lbs ball of muscle that is going to take real work to train and to stay consistant then don't get a Dogo. Natural protectors, especially with children. I live in a fairly rural area and have no problem leaving my kids at home with just the dog. Anyone stupid enough to try and break in would be in for a very bad day. The prey drive is very high. With an animal that is standing still they tend to sit and watch but as soon as it takes off it is game on. They're going to catch it. I've had a few rabbits learn that my yard is not the place to be. Oh, and they're the world's best cuddlers. Even if sometimes they think they're a lap dog.

They are amazing dogs. Takes a dog person who has the time and energy to give to them! Loyal to their family although not great around strangers especially in the home. MUST BE SOCIALIZED AND TRAINED! Constant and consistent training all their life! You must also be an alpha leader! If you can do all that they are stunning, loyal, lovable dogs

Dogo Argentino Breed Review by William J Curotto III
My girlfriend is a big animal person so her daughter was working at a retail store with this guy and he told her they had found this puppy on the street that was deaf but it had grown to large for there apartment and needed to give it away. So she said I will give it to my mom and she will find a home for it. I did not even want a dog because its so hard when you lose one. But when this dog walked in I instantly fell in love. The first thing you notice is the huge smile and wagging tale and just how happy he is. The second is how beautiful he is. I did not know what breed he was and it was not till a month later when I was walking him and a young couple stopped me and asked me. I told them I did not know and they told me it was a dogo. I had never heard of the breed but I will never own another breed. He is so loving, playful, happy, protective, and loyal it is off the charts. You cannot believe how many people I have met that have given me compliments on him. His name is Hercules and I will never let him go. He is my pride and joy. I always joke when I am on my way home that I have to go home and kiss the dog and pet the girlfriend.
