The Chocolate Labrador we have is a male, who is now 4. He is very healthy, affectionate, loves people, kids, and other dogs. We have grandchildren and he loves them, but in his excitement he can knock over little ones, so we have to watch him around the little ones for the first few minutes of their arrival, after that he settles down. He is a large Labrador, 90 lbs. Our Lab gets along well with our 3 cats as well, it helps he grew up with them. Our Chocolate Lab LOVES water! As a puppy he would even roll in a puddle if he came across one, and that includes mud puddles. He loves walking and jumping in a creek or swimming and jumping in at a river's edge or lake. We even have a baby pool for him to cool down in in the Summer. Labs are gentle and sense your emotions and feelings. They love physical contact.....lots of hugs, fetching a ball or stick, and definitely a lot of WALKS! They love being included in family time and vacations. Our Lab travels well and loves car rides! Our lab lets us know if there is someone outside the house and alerts us. Labs can have a hefty appetite and don't miss a meal, but this particular Lab we have eats when he feels like eating, he doesn't eat right away when we feed him, which is different than the other Lab we had before....he always ate right away. Labs LOVE treats and people food....so watch you don't over feed. Being overweight can be hard on their hips. We just give tid-bits. Who can resist those big, brown, Labrador eyes? I wouldn't leave any food near the counter or table edge ,;however, the Lab we have now is very well behaved, and at the age of 4, hasn't done that since he was a stinker at about 1 or 2. The 2 Labs I've had drank a lot of water. They easily pant, and need to stay hydrated., so always have plenty of fresh water on hand. Of course drinking a lot means peeing a lot! And male Labs like to mark their way as they go on a walk. Labs need very little grooming. We brush our Chocolate Lab with a brush (and his hair his glossy and handsome) and get his nails clipped about 1 a month at a Pet Store’s Grooming Center. We check his ears to make sure they aren’t dirty or red. Labs ear flaps are floppy and they can retain moisture and get sore, but with our Lab that has only happened a few times. Yes, Labs are a higher energy dog, they need exercise, and it is a great way for us owners to get exercise too! The puppy years from puppy to about 2 or 3 will most likely drive you crazy and get you to thinking, "what have I done by getting this crazy dog!" I remember our Chocolate Lab dug a lot of holes in our back yard as a pup.....But it gets better and they mellow out to be so gentle and sweet. Proper training is necessary so they don't learn bad habits, neutering/spaying helps tremendously, and giving them plenty of attention and exercise is important. If you don't want too much maintenance, you might consider a cat or fish for a pet, because dogs are not low maintenance, and if you don't have the time or the patience, it isn't fair to the dog. They also need regular Vet visits to make sure they are doing ok. Labs do not like to left alone for long periods of time (like if they are alone all day while you work). They also do not like fireworks and loud, sudden noises. Over all, Labs are great dogs as pets and companions, but they need plenty of attention, love and exercise. Oh, and one more thing....our Lab drools and snores :).

We have a female, chocolate lab,(Abby), who will soon be 13 years old. She has the best temperament, very loveable, smart, etc. She is now our couch potato. Best investment we made. I do have to say, they must be part of the family, because they think they are, also great with children, great boat dog, I just can't say enough good about them. Next time, we will have two of them. Love you Abby.

We own an 11 month old chocolate lab female and she is a wonderful family pet! True to the breed she is a very friendly and happy puppy. She loves our other dogs, cat and our young son and she knows which ones she can be more playful with and who she needs to be more gentle with. She was very easy to house/ crate train and although she is a puller on the leash she took to the basic commands well. We love this breed and will always have a lab as a family pet.

We have bought both of our chocolate labs from here, Braylee a female three years ago and Brewer a male two years ago. I wouldn\'t look any where else to find puppies! However, we recently lost our Braylee to a horrific accident.. I want to look for another but not sure of how soon, but I do know I will come back to look here! LOVE these chocolate labs!
