I just lost mine at only 10 years old her name was tootsie she had a heartattack i got her at three weeks old i have alot of medical problems with both my legs shouldn't be walking but with her i did it she was my life now i dont want to walk or even try to i wish i had another puppy like her i loved her so much she passed away december the 11th im still in shock

After a lifetime of labs and Shelties we adopted a blu healer female. She had been mistreated and caged for 12 weeks. No socialization. No muscle tone. But in a few weeks, what a total transformation. Alert. High energy. Fastest runner at dog park. Very social and loyal. Intelligence was overflowing. Love the breed.

Australian cattle dogs (both of ours were blue males) are super intelligent, funny, and empathetic. They both came up with some new behavior every day, right to their very last days, providing endless hours of charm and entertainment. They learned over 100 commands each, most of them I didn’t even explicitly set out to teach them. It’s like they could understand English—even whole sentences—and tell time, too. They protected their herds of people like we were made of gold. And if we were having a bad day, they’d sit next to us and put a paw on our shoulder—or snuggle us full body if we were sick. We will never get another breed.

My 16 year old ACD "Tank" has been the best dog that I ever had. His father "Beeler" made it to 11 and he was a great farm dog and friend. My 3 year old "Darwin" is off the chain as an athlete and kicks ass in dockdiving and goat herding. As you know already, all three of them were crazy loyal to me and my family, they are really smart and learn quick. Easiest dogs to potty train ever. I have never had a female ACD but that is on my list real soon. I will say that the first 6 mos of chewing on stuff will drive you nuts. Get them toys plenty of toys and they will destroy that instead of your house.

I had a heeler many years ago. It was the smartest dog I ever had. Unfortunately it got hit by a car, and died. I have been looking for another one. The only thing is that I now have another dog. I'm 100% lost and broken hearted over my last two Heelers. One was my fathers dog, Butchie, whom I had the pleasure of inheriting upon Dad's Death. I waited a year and finally opened my heart to another. This time I bought a beautiful blue heeler znd called him gus. This time me heart has been broken beyond repair. Gus was only 6 years old and we taken very quicky and cruelly by pancreatic cancer. I don't know how to pick up the pieces. I'm just lost.

i had 1 that looked like the Dalmatian he was a good old boy .had him from 8 weeks old until he was 15 years old very good with my grand kids my grandson is mutt he would make sure he would not go out of his sight , if he did he would bring him back where he could see him.

On my third Heeler...just love the ACD's. You have to keep them exercised and continue teaching into old age. They are smart, and keep getting smarter. And you have to be ready for a velcro dog. Love them.

Love Love Love this Breed. We have had 3 Heelers. have one currently. She is a mix but acts and looks mostly like a Heeler. They are the most loving, smart loyal dogs ever. I have 2 Australian Cattle dogs, Fannie and Zeke. I purchased Zeke from Greenfield. He is two yrs old now. Fannie is seven. He is a wonderful,athletic dog. Strong personality growing up, stubborn but easily trained. You have to understand dominant behavior to be Zeke's master. He is funny,smart and so lovable. He wasn't always a cuddle bug, he was a bull in a China shop at first. Best dogs ever,loyal!!!

We are on our second heeler. "Boo," is my dog, or more accurately, I belong to her. She is a homebody and her jobs are to chase birds from the feeder and guard our bridge from all intruders. She is remarkably patient with our exuberant grandchildren but we give her occassional "timeouts" when we sense it is needed. Fortunately, our golden retriever is patient beyond all reason as the boo dog still believes, after eight years, that she is the alpha dog. I remain utterly fascinated by the heeler\'s intelligence and ability to reason. She rarely sleeps; she lies at my feet, watches every move then stands and barks when she thinks its time for bed...the same time each night. What a remarkable breed and delightful companion.

This is a fabulous breed for very committed dog owners. This breed requires a job, training consistency and LOTS of exercise, mental stimulation and discipline. They are eager to please, learn very quickly (even the things you don\'t want them to) and are very loyal to those they live with. Must be watched with children if they are not raised with them. Can be very heavy shedders (get a furminator).
