These two type of dogs grow too big. Not looking to have a full grown dog 25 to 29 inches tall. Want a permanent small dog.

Akbash Breed Review by Tony Hubbard
Willow was a rescue and I have had Willow for 9 of her 10 years. She is smart, independent, protective, and a great companion. The owner of an Akbash must be in charge and control. They are somewhat trainable and a consistent patience persuasion approach to training is required. She is a very calm dog and only barks when she is protecting her territory. I'm considering getting a younger Akbash for Willow to train. I don't believe I'll ever have any other bread of dog. The first 2-3 years were challenging in that she was very protective of anything that she was responsible for taking care of. This seems to be the hallmark of the breed. She would nip or bite if you tried to take an object away from her that she felt it was her responsibility to guard... Once she gained the confidence that you were not going to harm or be aggressive toward her... she stop that behavior. She is now very calm and responsive to other animals or humans. She does like to take long walks in our neighborhood city park and enjoys meeting other dogs and people.

Akbash Breed Review by Rose Witt
We've owned one male Akbash dog in the past and presently have two, one male and one female. They are great loyal dogs, very loving and protective. The breed does require training and socialization since they are independent and protective. We have raised several different types of dogs from small breeds to medium, such as a Border Collie and Blue Heeler. Although we loved all our dogs, the Akbash is our favorite.

We have never owned an Akbash dog before. We have however raised two Golden Retrievers, one male and one female. , along with a yellow lab. . Also, we recently lost our 12 year old Bernese Mountain Dog. I miss my Maggie dearly. I am just curious how an Akbash differs from a retrievers disposition.

Akbash Dogs are WHITE -- solid WHITE - livestock protection dogs originally imported from a very specific region in Turkey, west of Ankara, near the ancient home of King Midas and the Phrygian people. They are more heat tolerant than many of the other lpd breeds but are equally at home in bitter cold climates. This is due to their double coat. Gentle and protective, they are unfriendly to strange canines -- dogs, coyotes or wolves.

The Akbash Dog is a pure white livestock protection breed registered with UKC. Many dogs sold as "purebred" are crossed with Great Pyrenees or Anatolians. To get a pure Akbash Dog, an intelligent, protective but independent breed, buyers should seek out UKC registered pups. Some breed registries issue papers for "pure Akbash" with little proof of breed purity. Buying from an ethical, experienced breeders is important. They will not sell an Akbash Dog to the wrong type of home --- and they will offer 24/7 advice and information!!

Akbash Breed Review by T. Evans
Akbash Dogs are pure white, sometimes with a little biscuit color on their ears or down their back. They are a very protective breed and are not for everyone! You must be a pack leader with these dogs, they think for themselves and listen to you second. They are a flock guardian dog and when bred as a pure Akbash, can be very animal protective. As I said they are pure white, they do not have markings like Great Pyrs. Do your research before buying a purebred Akbash.
