Our wonderful 1 year old rottweiler Thor. One of the best and sweetest dogs we’ve ever had! From the 12/5/20 liter.
- Sheila Ferinden,
This review is over a year late but here it is. I bought Nymeria or ¨Ske¨ as she was named on Greenfield Puppies from Amos Stoltzfus on 3/21/2020 for $800 - a cheap price for a ¨purebread akita¨. To start with, most reputable dog breeders only focus on one breed. Amos breeds at least 3: Akita, Rottweiler, and Goldendoodle. You might think you’re getting a good deal by buying from a guy like Amos but the cost of breeding unhealthy dogs goes to people like me and you. As it turns out Nymeria had an entropion eye, something uncommon to the Akita breed. This is a genetic issue where the eyelid is rolled inward and the eyelashes scratch directly on the eyeball. As I had no idea why my puppy was constantly squinting one eye, with her eye always watering, I had to take her to a total of 4 different vets to figure out the issue. With the fifth one finally able to provide a permanent solution, surgery. Not to mention the third and fourth vet had prescribed her an eye cream with steroids that gave her an ulcer on her eye! Now I never saw the sire in person but from the picture on the website it look as though he has 2 entropion eyes! Meaning Amos is knowlingly breeding dogs with a horrible genetic condition. Now I can’t prove that’s the case but these dogs should be tested for a genetic condition like this especially if they’re registered with the AKC. Experienced akita owners have also mentioned to me that Nymeria may not even be a full Akita even though that’s what she was sold to me as. Please learn from my mistake and if you decide to buy a dog, do your research beforehand and buy from a reputable breeders whose dogs are healthy, NOT a backyard breeder!
- A M,
We got our Akita girl in August 2019 from Amos and she has just turned a year old on June 8th. She is gorgeous and a fantastic dog. We love her to death! I would absolutely buy another one from Amos. Fantastic family! The picture is from when she was 9 weeks and then at 9 months. =)
